Mr. Winney is a seasoned high-tech
executive with more than 18 years of progressive experience
in all operational aspects of building, funding, and
managing software and professional services companies.
Most recently, Mr. Winney served as the CEO of Electrifier,
Inc., where he secured $3.5 million in venture capital
funding and positioned the company as a leader in the
Rich Media applications sector (Upside 100, Demo 2000
Company to Watch).
Previously, Mr. Winney served as Senior
Vice President of Business Development for Personify,
Inc., a leading business- to-business e-commerce software
firm, where he executed worldwide integration agreements
with numerous firms, including PriceWaterhouse, EYCG,
Sun, Oracle, IBM, and others resulting in a 300% increase
in channel revenues. Prior to Personify, Mr. Winney
served as Executive Vice President of Worldwide Sales
for iXL, Inc. (NASDQ: IXL), where he established sales
teams targeting the Fortune 500 client base and resulting
in the company exceeding its 1998 revenue targets by
$16 million.
Prior to iXL, Mr. Winney was the President
of Poppe Tyson, where he managed 235 employees with
office locations in New York City, San Francisco, Hong
Kong, London, Sidney, Australia, and Sao Paulo, Brazil.
While with Poppe Tyson, Mr. Winney restructured all
of the Company’s business units resulting in top
line revenue of $19 million and the company’s
first ever, quarter-to-quarter profitability. He also
oversaw the merger and subsequent integration of operations
of the Company into Modem Media.PoppeTyson.
Previously, Mr. Winney served as Executive
Vice President of Business Development and Chief Operating
Officer of USConnect, a $250 million (annual revenue)
systems integration concern. While with USConnect, he
managed the merger of 31 disparate service organizations
into a seamless, national provider of system integration
services and subsequently directed the sale of the company
at premium-to-market valuation. Mr. Winney also developed
and executed the company’s annual business plan
and new member recruitment resulting in over $115 million
in aggregate growth from 1995-1996. Earlier in his career,
Mr. Winney held sales and business development positions
with Novell, Inc. and BusinessLand, Inc.
Mr. Winney currently serves on the
Board of Advisors of Privacy Right, Inc., AdFlight,
Inc., Yourfit.com, and AskAnything.com. He is also active
in numerous industry organizations, including the Council
for Economic Development, the New York Venture Group
Association, the Software Development Forum, and the
New York New Media Association. Mr. Winney received
his Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the
University of Georgia.
