Ed is an innovative executive with 34 years of healthcare experience in U.S. and international markets. Corporate experience includes a progression of successful product development, sales and marketing management, and business development assignments at Baxter Healthcare, Pfizer, and American Home Products/Wyeth. Selected achievements include establishing Baxter’s FloGard^TM line of volumetric infusion pumps, acquiring the FirstTemp^TM brand of tympanic thermometers to propel Sherwood Medical’s profitable growth, and integrating Sherwood Medical/Davis & Geck’s 45 international marketing personnel to re-focus strategic objectives and optimize profits.

Since founding EXPLOR Bioventures in 1998, he has gained management experience with several startups, including serving as Vice President, Business Development at Apath, LLC, where he out-licensed antiviral drug discovery tools to more than twenty-five biotech and pharmaceutical companies and generated more than $12 million in revenue. Previously, Ed was Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Business Development with Isto Technologies, Inc., an orthobiologic company that is developing cartilage regeneration solutions. Selected accomplishments include developing winning grant submissions that netted $2.75 million in awards from the NIST Advanced Technology and NIH SBIR programs, and the design and implementation of the business development campaign that resulted in a strategic collaboration with Zimmer, Inc worth more than $10 million.

Mr. Bayham is currently serving as the business development executive for two emerging molecular diagnostics companies with marketed products for drug discovery research tools and clinical diagnostics. He concurrently provides consulting services and mentors start-up biotech companies, particularly in obtaining government grant funding.

He holds an M.S. in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
