Venky Venkatraman
Venky Venkatraman has been involved
in the IT industry for over 20 years. During this period
he has played roles ranging from Project and Program
Manager to Account and Business Manager providing IT
services to clients ranging from smaller corporations
(like Readers Digest, Con Edison, Roadway Express, Prodigy,
Bell Atlantic, SNET and Caldor) to Fortune 500 companies
(like GE Capital, Ford, Mercedes-Benz Credit, Mitsubishi
Motor Sales and Kraft General Foods) covering industries
like Banking, Transportation, Utilities, Publishing,
Retail and Telecommunications. He is extremely familiar
with the offshore IT services model having been involved
with it since its infancy in the process being involved
in various capacities with several top-tier India based
offshore IT service providers like TCS, HCL and Infosys.
After completing an MBA in Systems
from the prestigious Indian Institute of Management
in Bangalore, he commenced his career with Tata Consultancy
Services (TCS), currently the largest IT services provider
in India. He also worked for a couple of years as a
Staff Programmer at IBM Credit Corporation in Stamford,
Connecticut. Prior to joining Threshold, Mr. Venkatraman
served as Business Manager at Infosys Technologies (based
in Dallas, Texas), one of the largest IT services companies
in India. While at Infosys, he assisted in both sales
and delivery functions, helping to add on new clients
as well as ensuring excellence in delivery for existing
and new clients. Before that, he spent a couple of years
in the Bay area serving as Director of Projects and
Business Development for a few start-up IT service providers.
Previous to that, he spent almost a decade as President
of his own consulting company providing contracting
services to a roster of major clients (listed earlier)
as well as providing both sales and delivery assistance
to several small to large Indian IT services organizations
during their initial forays into the US market.
Mr. Venkatraman holds a BTech degree
(Electrical Engineering) from the Indian Institute of
Technology, BHU (1980), an MBA (Systems) from the Indian
Institute of Management, Bangalore (1983) and an MBA
(Executive) from the University of Connecticut (2001).
